Race Tech Fork Seals are built to last, and are the only stock replacements
we count on in our suspension builds. Unlike other aftermarket brands, their
quality and materials equals or exceeds their OEM counterparts. Cheap seals
aren't very cheap when you're constantly replacing them. With quality fork seals
from RaceTech, you'll spend less time working on your forks, and more time riding
on them!
Most (but not all) forks use two sets of seals; dust seals, and oil
seals. The dust seals are the seals you can see, and their job is to keep debris
from getting to the oil seals. The oil seals lie underneath the dust seals.
If your forks are leaking fluid, you'll definitely want to purchase oil seals.
Dust seals can often be reused, but should be inspected, and replaced if the
rubber's dry, brittle, cracked, or otherwise damaged. If you're not sure...
purchase both.
We strongly suggest that you inspect your forks carefully anytime you
have to replace leaking seals. Most leaks start from minor scratches, dings,
or imperfections in the fork tube cutting the fork seals. Bent forks can likewise
cause your forks to leak.
