Perhaps you've done
a few trackdays, or attended a race school or two, and feel
you're ready to advance your riding to the next level. Or perhaps
you just long to compete against your peers in a true race environment,
rather than on the street with all its inherent danger. Regardless
of your motivation, club-level racing offers real racing excitement
and experience to novices and experts alike.
The requirements
and costs associated with club racing generally aren't nearly
as restrictive as those for AMA racing or other higher-level
organizations. In most cases, a single-day race school and small
fee buy your racing license. And many organizations will waive
the single-day-course-requirement with proof of recent completion
of approved courses, such as those offered by Keith Code, or
Pridmore. In most cases, there are no qualifying times required
to put you on the grid... simply pay a separate fee for each
race you enter and you're in!
Riders are grouped
according to motorcycle make and displacement, engine and suspension
modifications, experience, and a host of other factors. No matter
who you are, or what you ride, there's a place for you at a
club racing events. Indeed, it's not uncommon for first-time
riders to pit side-by-side with the AMA heroes they spend each
weekend watching on TV.
