Introduced in 2007, the Penske 8983 Double-Adjustable Racing Shock takes
performance to a whole new level, replacing both the 8981 and 8986 series
shocks, and spanning the gap between them. This shock is, in our opinion,
one of the best choices for club racers, trackday participants, and street riders
looking for a competition-grade shock at an affordable price. The difference
between this and your stock unit will truly amaze you!
The Penske 8983 offers a much finer degree of compression tuning than it's
8981 predecessor, featuring a 16-position click-by-hand low-speed adjuster
housed on a remote reservoir assembly. The remote reservoir allows for greatly
improved resistance to heat fade over piggyback designs, and can be located
to allow for compression adjustments on-the-fly.
All Penske motorcycle shocks, including the 8983, include a 36-click
ultra-fine rebound adjuster, a variable-length eyelet for on-the-bike ride-height
adjustments, fully threaded shock bodies, and quick turn preload collars. The
build quality on all Penske models is superb, as is the performance.
Note - Unlike offerings from some stores, all Penske Racing Shocks sold
by Sportbike Solutions are custom built to order, with damping curves and spring
rates matched to your weight and riding style.
Each Penske Shock is shipped with it's own dyno sheet, service / instruction
manual, and preload adjustment tool.
Penske 8983 shocks are available for the following Yamaha motorcycles:
FJ1100, FJ1200, FJR1300, FZ400, FZ600, FZ750, FZ6, FZ1, FZR400, FZR600,

Please choose your body weight (with gear), and general riding
riding style. Before your shock is built, we will contact you to confirm this
information in order to best meet your needs. Also, be sure to include your
motorcycle make, model, and year in the 'additional comments' section during
checkout. As each shock is custom built, no returns are accepted unless due
to a manufacturing defect or build error. Average build time runs between 1-3
weeks.
